Jot Magazine - November Moodboard 2016

I am still on cloud 9 on the positive response I received for my previous layout. If you enjoy crafting, you would understand that sometimes without inspiration and mojo, it is very hard to create. I love to look for inspirations which motivates me to create. Yesterday, I found a really interesting mood board inspiration from Jot Magazine. It is interesting because I have never worked with such colour hues before. So, I decided to give it a go. It was really a challenge, but after truly playing with it, I really love how it turns out.

Here is the mood board.

I did a card and a layout. Here my take :
It is hard to photograph a rather white and bright coloured background... I bought some gelatos from Faber Castell a while back (a year or so), I finally had the chance to play with it and I think I am officially HOOKED. It was so fun and easy... I also did some fussy cutting for the feather. Paper was from Felicity Jane. Finally, a simple title rub ons from Crate Paper - Note & Things. It is a really plain and simple layout...

Who still uses stickles? Eek, I used them on hand cut feathers and it was so pretty!
Shimmer & shine. Stamped sentiments from Felicity Jane :)

They are so versatile... Another Favourite is sequins from Felicity Jane Kits... :) Hope you like them ! Thank you for dropping by...

Christmas is coming

Do know that Christmas is just a few weeks away? Can't believe that the year is coming to an end so so soon. Way to soon for my liking... I know that a lot of you have started your Christmas projects. I create a christmas card. Recently, I've been hit by the black & gold bug. I just can't help it.... Here's my take. I absolutely love how this shaker card turned out!

Here's a close up of the card.  I painted black strips on a white card stock.  The word "Merry" is cut on the Chickaniddy Gold Foil Paper & it cuts like butter. I used Number 4 blade on my Cameo in case you would like to know. Christmas is from Hero Arts wood mount stamp.

Since it's the season of giving, I would like to share a Christmas Cut file I have designed. If you love the "Merry" cut file I used in the card, you can download the .studio file here.

Hope you love it. Do share your work with me if you do use the file! :)

With much love, Josie

Free Printables for Mother's Day (Updated)

This is my first time designing project life cards. I was playing with my DH's new toy the 53Pencil and started scribbling. Played with photoshop and came out with some of this. Since mother's day is just around the corner, I did some Mother's Day quote cards. Just click to enlarge image, then right click and "Save image as" to save to your PC, then print on A4 sized paper. Hope you will like it. Will design some for daddy, too :)

*** Sorry updated the file as the measurement of the first file was not accurate. >.< so sorry. Hiccups on my first free printables... pls forgive me. Hope this works for you. Let me know if you have any feedback. Thanks! ***

After a long break...

Hey, How has your long break been? By now, everything should be falling back to normal as many has started working after the long break. Emails are pouring in. Before I know it, work is piling up.
Manage to update a PL page for January...

Oh, since Chap Goh Meh (Chinese Valentine's) falls on the same day as Valentine's Day, I bet it will be jam pack as all the lovey dovey couples enjoy some quality time on this special day... :)
In conjunction with such a loving day, I made a simple Valentine's Day card. So in love with Amy Tangerine's alpha stickers... :D

Updates & A Card...

How has the new year been for you? The past week has been quite a tough one for my family, as mum was admitted for more than a week due to pneumonia & we are prepared but feared the worst, due to her existing conditions. We prayed and try our best to keep ourselves hopeful. Finally, after a series of test, a minor op & many days of worries, she finally has clearance to come home. Although, still recovering with fever lurking daily, she's happier to be home. Thank you all who knew who kept us in your thoughts & prayers.

So having all that happening, & work piling up, I choose to remain positive. Despite having said so, I can't help but having so many thoughts in my mind. So every time I feel like I have too much to think, I would sit, take a break at my crafty area & work on Project Life.

So last night, I was doing my thing, flipping through paper pads & trying to make some progress with Project Life, & all of a sudden I have the urge to make a card! A Chinese new year card to be specific… Digging in, I became more excited & worked on the card. Who knew Maggie Holmes & Crate Paper could look so Asian? I'm am surprised myself :) I love how this card turned out!
Thanks for dropping by… Hope you have a great week ahead.

Mini Proposal Album

Last month, a friend approached me and asked if I could help him design a mini album which he can use for his proposal. I took up the challenge & this is what I did… :) (Note : Pictures are blurred as per requested by my friend due to privacy purposes). At the very end of the album, there's an envelope with a card that says "Will you Marry Me?" & the ring is tied to the ribbon provided. He did some journalling on some of the blank areas provided but it's not captured here :D
I'm happy to know that his proposal was successful & his soon-to-be wife really loved the album…

Tutorial : Creating your own project life card with Stamps

One morning last month, I woke to a Facebook post that says "The lucky random winner is… Josie Teh" Boy, did I jumped up from my bed! Yeay I won a giveaway from Kellie Stamps! Swoon. I have been waiting all week to use this pretty baby… :P

Here's what I did with it & I'm going to share it with you how I did it.

First, I trimmed a Bazzil Walnut Cream Cardstock into 4" x 6". Smooth card stocks tend to work better for stamping.

Next, I used Black embossing powder & heat embossed the Stamped sentiment.

I continue to stamp and filled up the whole paper with grey ink just like the picture below. I used a lighter ink to make the embossed sentiment more prominent.

I still find the stamped sentiment too dark. So, I used some white ink & I started dabbing all over the card.
The sentiments looks faded after applying white ink all over, just the way I wanted it.

To create the star, I used Studio Calico's Mistables. I used a dew drop in Galaxy gold color to apply the ink on to the Star.
Then, I applied some glitter using my favourite stickles (diamond)
 The result ...
I embellished the card with a journal tag, some stickers & a picture, we are all set.
The PL card is now ready :)

Have fun! :)
